First we need to get a blog. There are several options - host the blog on your own domain or get a free blog. First, let's talk about free blogging. You can get a free blog at www.blogger.com or the newer (better!) www.wordpress.com. If you are a technician, you must have heard The Wordpress is a powerful and infinitely scalable free blogging engine.
Blogger.com is actually owned by Google, so it'll be detected on Google's radar faster, and you'll be indexed faster. However, Wordpress.com is a relatively new option, so I can't compare the speed of search engine indexing. However, in a sense, Wordpress is better Has more advanced features like citations and categories. You can also manage sidebar links more efficiently (more on that later).
Get a free blog at Blogger.com (http://www.blogger.com/signup.g) or Wordpress (http://wordpress.com/signup/). Then familiarize yourself by publishing your first post on your blog and tinkering with options and templates.
Here are some common "blog-related" words to help you:
Permalink - Permalink stands for Permalink, which is a URL (Uniform Resource Locator) that points to a single post you make on your blog.
Trackbacks – When you blog about other people elsewhere, your post will show up in their Trackbacks section. However, this feature is not available for Blogger.com accounts.
Pinging - Almost every mention of a blog these days seems to be paired with ping. Pinging is actually the action of notifying an aggregator when your blog is updated so that the aggregator can display your blog's latest posts on its website. This is a Useful ways to get traffic, which we will discuss later.
